Recently, Joanne Rawlings, Customer Liaison Officer for our GFP contract with The Hyde Group, had the pleasure of visiting Petworth Community Gardens, a thriving local initiative led by founder, Kate.

Our sponsored Pumpkin Patch in this beloved garden has been fully harvested with the produce being transformed into spiced chutney, which will be sold at the Petworth Farmer’s Market. Next, it will be a spring planting of beans. This cycle of cultivation, harvest, and replanting embodies both the garden’s ethos of sustainability and resourcefulness and supports our own Regeneration commitment too!

Jo was lucky enough to receive her own pumpkin from the patch and added her own special “Purdy” touch for Halloween.

We love this multifaceted approach to community support. Beyond simply growing produce, the garden team cooks and processes their harvest into homemade jams, chutneys, and marmalades to sell.  The garden also actively collaborates with the local food bank, delivering fresh produce to families and individuals in need, along with weekly bread donations from a partnering local artisan bakery.

We really enjoyed visiting Petworth Community Gardens and we’re grateful to Kate and Eleanor for their warm welcome. Purdy is proud to support a space that brings together people from all walks of life and gives so much to the community. For us, it is the start of a partnership dedicated to supporting community well-being, food security, and sustainable living.
