What an absolutely brilliant couple of days our team had at Sanctuary’s Gascoyne One Community Centre in London Borough of Hackney! Our PURDY crew rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in, giving this fantastic community space a well-deserved fresh lick of paint and thorough tidy-up.
The transformation was incredible, but the real magic happened when local residents started popping in to see what we were up to! It was so rewarding to chat with neighbours who didn’t even realise the centre offered regular activities. We had the pleasure of sharing the weekly schedule and got several residents signed up for community lunches and dance exercise classes!
Even better, two residents enquired about hiring the hall for future events – showing just how much this space means to the local community. The centre may be owned by Sanctuary, but it’s proudly run by the residents themselves, and we felt genuinely honoured to play our part in keeping it looking its absolute best.
Our team came away feeling energised and fulfilled, knowing we’d made a real difference to a space that brings people together. There’s nothing quite like seeing the immediate impact of your work and connecting with the community who benefit from it!
