Last week, Purdy’s Customer Liaison Officer, Fay Poddington, joined Prospex’s CEO Richard Franklin (known locally as ‘Beef’), the Mayor of Islington, and members of the community for the unveiling of a new defibrillator and bleed control box at The Underground Youth Centre. The event celebrated the installation and the life-saving potential of this crucial device, positioned in a key area to ensure swift access during emergencies.
Prospex is an Islington-based youth charity focused on supporting young people aged between 8-19, many of whom have had their prospects affected by uncontrollable circumstances.
During the event, the team was briefed on the practicalities of maintaining the defibrillator, including the need to replace the pads and re-register the device after each use.
The Mayor of Islington commended the initiative, emphasising its importance for community safety and resilience. The presence of local leaders highlighted the collective effort to address critical health and safety needs in the area.
“This defibrillator is more than just a piece of equipment; it symbolises hope and readiness for emergencies. It reflects our community’s commitment to safeguarding each other.” – Mayor of Islington
This vital equipment has already been put into action and used to save a life shortly after its installation.
Fay comments: “It was heartening to see the community’s response to the installation and the positive impact our work has already made. Knowing that Purdy played a part in helping someone in need reinforces our commitment to contributing to the well-being of local communities.”
We extend our gratitude to the Mayor of Islington for their participation and support, to Richard Franklin and the team at Prospex for their collaboration, and to our dedicated team for their exceptional work. The unveiling event marks a significant achievement in our shared mission to create a safer, more resilient community.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Prospex and exploring new ways to contribute positively to the community.
