Purdy Contracts awarded 'Employer of the Year 2011'
Purdy Contracts has been awarded Employer of the Year for the third year running by Hertfordshire Regional College. The award for 2011 was in respect of the company's highly successful Apprenticeship Scheme.
Operations Director Lee Venables, who himself started out at Purdy as an apprentice and worked his way up to board level, attended the reception in November on behalf of the company to collect the award and was delighted the apprentice scheme has been recognised yet again by the college.
“We are totally committed to developing our workforce from within and we currently employ 23 apprentices across the business on a scheme, which runs for four years. Our apprentices attend the college one day per week and the college has informed us that results from the apprentices at Purdy Contracts are significantly and consistently higher than similar schemes ran by other local businesses, so naturally we are very proud. We have a mixture of Gas/Heating and Electrical Apprentices and despite the obvious economic climate we hope to continue offering more places on the scheme each year as our business continues to expand,” said Lee.
